While removing the bottle cage from the seat tube, I discovered that someone had drilled into the frame to create the mounting holes, as opposed to the proper braze ons that I had thought were there. In addition to this, whoever did this modification used sheet metal screws to mount the cage. There was little I could do to correct this other than tighten the screws all the way down and hope that they keep out moisture. Since the holes were not big, I don't foresee and problems with the structural integrity of the frame.
